Day 2. Breisach, Freedom of Choice
On arrival in Breisach today, either take an excursion to the idyllic Black Forest region; or set out on a trip to the enchanting city of Colmar and enjoy a tour and wine tasting.
Day 3. Speyer
Disembark your ship this morning in Speyer, and travel to Europe’s largest private technology museum, the Technik Museum Speyer, which features more than 3,000 exhibits from all different areas of technological history. Afterwards, explore this quaint medieval town on a guided walking tour. Then visit a local family for a hosted afternoon tea of coffee and cake.
Day 4. Rüdesheim, Freedom of Choice
Today cruise through the Rhine Gorge on what is known as the most beautiful stretch of this enchanting river. Arrive in Rüdesheim, and ride the Winzerexpress mini-train to your selected sightseeing activity. Perhaps tour Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to one of Germany’s most beautiful collections of automated musical instruments. Alternatively, take a ride in a gondola to the Niederwalddenkmal monument for views over the Rhine Valley.
Day 5. Cochem
Today you’ll disembark in the German town of Cochem, possibly the prettiest town in the Moselle Valley. Visit the idyllic Cochem Castle, perched on a hill overlooking the river.
Day 6. Cologne, Freedom of Choice, Andernach, A Royal Invitation
Arrive in Cologne and enjoy a choice of walking tours. Later, cruise to the 2,000 year-old town of Andernach. Disembark and head to Burg Namedy for a decadent evening of royal delights. Burg Namedy was built by the Hausmann Knights of Andernach in the 14th century. Today, Princess Heide von Hohenzollern has opened the doors of her turreted home exclusively for APT guests. Enjoy free time to wander about the castle’s opulent rooms, hidden nooks and manicured gardens. Later, savour a lavish banquet in Burg Namedy’s ballroom, prepared especially for APT guests.
Day 7. Amsterdam, Freedom of Choice
Today, perhaps take a canal cruise and admire the city from a glass-top boat as you glide past 17th-century homes, churches and 16th-century merchant houses. Then wander through Amsterdam’s famed flower market along the banks of the canal. Alternatively, visit the Van Gogh Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Van Gogh paintings. Another option is an excursion to the picturesque village of Zaanse Schans, famous for its traditional Dutch buildings and windmills. Return to your ship and set off along the Rhine River. This evening is your farewell Dinner.
Day 8. Amsterdam
This morning after breakfast your tour concludes.
