Highlights of this cruise:
Mykonos
The fabulous architecture of Mykonos with its whitewashed, cubical houses existing without dissonance, the immense sleeping windmills and the innumerable bell towers do not reveal from the first glance the pulsating soul of this Cycladic island. A peaceful balance emanates from within it. But only at first! You will see the beautiful houses, with wooden balconies that seem to rise upright straight out of the sea, in thousands of photographs. This is the renowned “Little Venice” of Mykonos. You have admired the proud, immense, preserved windmills that adorn the Castro quarter. You have read the comments of dozens of celebrities who revel in coming to Mykonos every year. You have heard of the energetic, all-day beach parties on the golden, sandy strands of the island. So many beaches concentrated on a relatively small island.
Kusadasi
The name in Turkish means “Pigeon Island”. Kusadasi, which lies opposite the island of Samos, was until recently a small fishing village. Yet it has rapidly developed, invested in tourist infrastructure and today constitutes a popular resort which attracts thousands of tourists, day trip ferries from Samos and luxurious cruise ships.
It is renowned for its Covered Bazaar where you will find everything. From jewelry and carpets, spices and natural cosmetics, to leather products and antique furniture. And of course, its trademark is. good natured bargaining, what else!
The ancient city of Ephesus is just 19 kilometers (10 miles) from Kusadasi and the route is particularly pleasant: Olive and pine trees, and vines will guide you to the most important monument in the region. Apart from Ephesus, which is one of the largest open-air archaeological museums in the world, Kusadasi is a location for cultural tourism as much as for contemporary diversions.
It has beautiful clean beaches, natural beauties, intense nightlife, endless little shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bars and both imported and local entertainment. Apart from the ancient attractions which lie relatively close by, such as Ephesus, Priene, Miletos and Didyma, Kusadasi offers sights that are no more than a short walk away. For example you can visit the city walls, the National Park, the Byzantine Castle and the little island opposite it, from where Kusadasi got its name.
Santorini
The mystical, primal island of Santorini throws its nets of seduction from afar. While still aboard the cruise ship, you will cross the intricate caldera and approach the steep, almost vertical, fiery rocks with dozens of houses built along the verge and see the 588 steps that lead to the top. You will be eager to broach the crescent. Thera with the active volcano, the largest caldera in the world, which was formed by the Minoan eruption around 1613 B.C. and the little islands Palea and Nea Kameni which emerged from the eruption.
Santorini has a unique pulse. It has red earth, white and red beaches, produces wine and unusual local products (white aubergines) which are influenced by its volcanic subsoil, unique cave settlements and houses, windmills, more than 600 churches and country chapels of folk architecture. It has warmth and cheerful people, endless alleyways. Popular or secluded beaches. It has an incomparable nightlife with the caldera ever in the background, the sunsets, the lights and colors, served at your feet. Santorini or Thera is a unique sculpture!
At Oia you will admire the incut cave settlement, literally built into the rocks, and the overflowing alleys, with people from every corner of the world, waiting to applaud the setting of the sun. At the cosmopolitan main town, Fira, you will feel exalted with life. At Kamari, Perissa and Perivolos you will enjoy lively entertainment, at the wineries you will taste the sweet, red wine Vinsanto, at the monastery of Prophet Ilias at Pyrgos you will experience a soul moving view. At Akrotiri you will witness the excavation of the historical settlements. The secrets of Santorini are endless.
