St Thomas/St John
St. Thomas and St. John of the U.S. Virgin Islands make up one of the exciting ports of call on a Disney Cruise Line Caribbean Cruise vacation. Once largely occupied by Dutch-owned sugar cane plantations and pirates of the Caribbean, they are today some of the most popular tropical tourist destinations in the world.
San Juan
With its cobblestone streets, brightly colored buildings and a history that stretches back to the Conquistadors, San Juan is a popular tourist destination. The oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction, it offers a warm climate throughout the year, with temperatures sizzling in the summer. Mountains cover over half of the island terrain, but the geography of Puerto Rico also includes rain forests, deserts and caves.
The past lives on in Old San Juan, where restored 16th- and 17th-century buildings line the streets paved with blue adoquine stones. Wander the labyrinthine ramparts and tunnels of the great El Morro citadel and the venerable Castillo de San Cristóbal, a World Heritage and National Historic Site. Or take a ferry to the Barcardi distillery for an introduction to rum production.
