Africa – Southern and Central
This region covers the southern part of the continent from West Africa round to East Africa. There is a vast range of peoples, cultures, countries and experiences included in this region. However Africa is always about its wild life and most cruises include the opportunity to experience this at some stage of the itinerary.
Cruise types
Apart from a number of cruises based in South Africa, cruises in this region are generally from the UK or are part of World or extended cruises.
Cruises ex the UK are traditional sea voyages with a limited number of visits to West African ports. They generally return from Cape Town.
World and extended cruises visit a wider range of South African ports as well as West and East African destinations.
Cruise season
Cruises based out of South Africa, cruises ex the UK and World Cruises all operate in the October to April period.

World Cruises – Cape Town, Durban, Mauritius, Reunion, Mombasa
Weather
The northern part for this region is equatorial and the seasons reflect rain more than temperature. The rain is part of the monsoon cycle and the rainy seasons are in April and October/November. South Africa’s weather does have seasons with winter having cool nights and warm days and summer can be warm to hot and humid.
